Enjoy the sounds and sights of nature when you stay in this incredible tiny house. This Tiny features a bohemian style throughout and has an open feel, while showcasing gorgeous design and attention to detail. This tiny house is nestled on its own private space in a hill, overlooking miles of rolling Nebraska hilltops—a stunning view captured by its huge feature window. Sip coffee by the fireplace and absorb the peace given from the vast, beautiful views.

The entire footprint of this home is 8.5x28 (not including the deck)--but huge windows actually make it feel quite spacious! Huge windows with beautiful views of the Nebraska countryside, fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, in-ceiling speakers, wifi, a Smart Projector w/ a 67" screen & a 32" Smart TV--both equipped with Netflix/Amazon Prime, large front deck, 32" shower, washer/dryer, indoor fireplace (turned off during summer months), outdoor propane fire pit, and oak floors. All on a spacious property of rolling hills and spectacular views.

Please be aware that like most tiny housers, I have a composting toilet—it’s made by the company "Separett". These are environmentally friendly, and save a ton of water. For more info about it, look up "Separett Composting Toilet" on Youtube. But please be conscious of this fact before you book, and know to expect it. I know this type of thing isn’t for everyone, though most people seem to adapt just fine. If you are unsure about it, just ask.

My tiny house has a wide-open feel first because of the landscape (rolling hills and NE plains), and next because of all the windows that let that nature in. I designed this house myself, and wanted two things in order to give it an open, bright ambiance: High ceilings and big windows. I wanted to look at nature all the time, and tried to "bring the outside in". It turned out exactly how I wanted! Once inside, it feels bigger than you'd think, but it's still technically only 238 sq feet on the bottom level. Since this is normally my own house, I made sure to include a few luxuries and wish-items! My favorite features are: the heated floor throughout the whole house, the fire place, the front deck, in-ceiling speakers throughout the house, the hardwood oak living room/kitchen floor, the white antique-washed ceiling tiles, the decorative storage stairs, the monkeypod wood counter top (I finished this myself), the huge feature windows in the living room, the "settee" couch (which allows for better views), overlooking an incredible view of Nebraska's rolling hills, and the large kitchen.

I had a great time designing and building this space and I'm excited to share it with you! I love transforming the living room into a home movie theater with the Smart Projector--equipped with Amazon Prime Video and Netflix--and a 67" screen so you can enjoy large-screen movies and entertainment. More about the space: This tiny house is on a vast 80-acre property! However, be aware that other people reside on the property: my friends John and Audrey live on the property about 400 feet south in a farmhouse on the other side of the grove of trees.

My desire for everyone who stays in my tiny home is first, that you feel valued and valuable, and second, that you feel and enjoy the peace that I feel in this space. All are welcome here! Please message me with any questions! The entire tiny house and immediate surrounding area is yours! For food: You have access to all kitchenware, spices, anything in the pantry, cupboards or fridge, coffee/coffee makers, etc. We also have an "In-(Tiny)-House" Coffee Shop, equipped with an espresso-maker, french press, drip coffee, and pour-over--in case you would like to make a fancy coffee in the morning! Dark roast ground coffee is provided.

Nearby food options:

The grocery store and a great new restaurant called Cedar Hills Bar and Grill--these are an 8-minute drive east. There's also a yummy burger dive (Bob's Bar) 9 minutes south, and a large variety of restaurants is a 30-minute drive East. If you're staying for three days or more, and enjoy cooking new meals at home (like I do!), I can also arrange to have Blue Apron deliver meals for you to make. More details about that below.

The Property:

Our property is so peaceful! Away from the city, away from the stress. You can see the stars at night and listen to the birds chirp in the morning. As a guest here, you'll have access to the two acres the house is sitting on, as well as the other non-cow areas if you'd like! It should be noted that cows are kept on the 38 acres North and East of the house. They are kept in by an electric fence surrounding my 2.5 acre property, so it's important not to touch the fence (it is a ways away from the house, so if you don't intentionally touch it, there will be no possibility of contact with it). While staying, feel free to walk the 2.5 acre property. There is also a southern 20-acre section of the property that is enrolled in the CRP program, and is open to visitors. Go see the native wild species while hiking to the top of that panoramic hill! Or you may just prefer to sit on the front deck and take in the beautiful views from there. There is a lot of lovely farmland and hills surrounding us. Walking the trails through the trees is also beautiful. Such a tranquil, remote setting! My friends John and Audrey live on the property about 400 feet south in a farmhouse on the other side of the grove of trees. Audrey is also my co-host, and is on the property most of the time. She can answer any questions you have. John and Audrey are amazing people--I highly recommend stealing a conversation with them if you can! Other than the farmhouse 300 feet south through the grove, this tiny house sits alone on its own plot of land. Very remote and private.

On-site Activities:

Lawn games: I have a few lawn games for summer fun: Corn hole, Bocce ball, a Soccer and Football.

Fire pit on the Deck: Don't want to get your clothes all smokey? Relax out on the large back deck with a glass of wine in front of the (propane fueled) fire pit! Lay in the hammock and star-gaze, and just enjoy the sounds of nature around you.

Hiking: Hike along the trail circling the property, or go off the trails and hike the hills on your own!

Grill: Make a juicy steak and crisp veggies on the grill!

Picnics: Use the outdoor picnic table/benches, or grab a blanket and find one of countless spots on the ground! Picnicking whilst taking in the panoramic views on the top of the huge hill would be a windy, yet memorable highlight! Bird and animal-watching: We have many varieties of birds and animals on the property, specifically in the grove on the North side of the house. Also, on the South side of the house, the 21 acres there is being newly converted into a bird and wildlife sanctuary via the C.R.P. program! Currently, many varieties of native wildflowers and trees are being planted, so we will see which birds and animals come to visit this habitat!

Off-roading: Bring your ATV for the property and low-maintenance roads (there are plenty!).

Nature-gazing in comfort: Enjoy the sweeping views of hills and nature from inside the house, without fighting mosquitoes or sweltering or frigid weather! Take in the beauty, minus the elements that can make it uncomfortable. This was a main goal of mine when designing this house--so enjoy!

Snow activities: Bring your snowmobile or snowshoes during the winter; the place is perfect for those types of activities!

For kids: Ponca State Park: Lots of activities here, from archery to horseback riding, to canoeing, to hiking. Craft times are also offered at various times. Nature walks: Not only are these popular with kids, they are educational! Click here for a good one! Snow fun: Snow angels, snow forts, and snow men are kid-pleasers in the winter! Plenty of snow and space to accommodate!

The Surrounding Area/Off-site Activities:

The town of Ponca is an 8-minute drive East of my house, and there you will find a grocery store, a pizza place, a great burger place, a gym, post-office, pharmacy, doctor's office, etc. If you want a larger town, South Sioux City, NE and Sioux City, IA are a 30-minute drive East. Population of about 120,000--so lots of shopping, eating places, etc, in that area. Vermilion is another medium-sized town that is about 20 minutes West of us. I have specifics and details about different places nearby which you will find in the Tiny House Manual when you arrive at the tiny house, and also in this guidebook I've created.

Guidebook:

On this site is a book of recommendations for a plethora of restaurants, activities and attractions in the surrounding areas I've put together for your use! Feel free to check it out and plan accordingly!

Ponca State Park:

Ponca State Park is only a 10-minute drive away, and I highly recommend visiting! It has some fantastic hiking the trails! Beautiful, regardless of the time of year! I've also seen people biking along the roads in the park.

Off-roading:

We are far out into the countryside, so you're welcome to bring your ATV's and ride around! Dirt-bikes or mountain bikes are also fine here.

Canoe/fishing:

1.5 miles from my tiny house is Powder Creek Lake--which is great for fishing or kayaking/canoeing. And I do have a canoe on the property for your use! You will need to have a vehicle with a hitch (1 7/8” ball ) to transport the canoe on my utility trailer to and from the lake. But just let me know in advance and I will get it set up for you! Also, I don’t know if you can ice-fish on it in the winter; I would assume so! Ice-fishing: I've never had someone do it, but it's worth a try! Set up your station on Powder Creek Lake!

Transportation to the property:

During seasons when it is very wet, it is a good idea to have a 4-wheel drive vehicle to traverse the 4 miles of gravel road leading to my house. The road tends to become quite muddy and can be tricky to drive in, so 4-wheel drive is best if there is a massive amount of snow melting, or after days of heavy rains. There is an alternate route that's easier to drive in this case. Additionally, snow is usually cleared out by the city fairly quickly after snow falls, but occasionally they have waited a day or so to do so. This can make it difficult to drive in the meantime in a vehicle without medium to high ground clearance. 99% of the time, driving is not an issue. However, contact me if you have any concerns. Before your stay, I will be in communication with you about any potential weather issues and give details about the terrain/alternate routes.

**There is a group of three tiny homes about 1/4 mile south of this Tiny. These are separate rentals, and not part of this North rental. I look forward to having you! I will not be available in person when you stay in this tiny house, but my co-host Audrey will be on the property available for any questions you have! She and her family live in the farmhouse next door (south of the house, on the other side of the grove of trees). -During the summer months there may be some activity going on! Generally not loud, but there may be people about, tending to the garden, etc.

*A deep-cleaning of the entire tiny house is done between each and every guest stay. That means:

-Fresh, clean linens are always used

-The furniture (chairs/couch/lounging area) is sanitized and cleaned

-All touched surfaces throughout the house are cleaned (every surface but the walls)

Location

The address of the tiny house is:87954 587 Ave Ponca, NE 68770

Recommended Directions: We have been having issues lately with some GPS units giving faulty directions to the house, taking folks down low-maintenance or closed roads. So, for peace of mind, here is a route that I recommend taking:

Go to the town of Ponca, NE. Drive north on Highway 12 for approximately 5.6 miles. When you see 588 Ave (there will be two large grain bins), turn left (south). Continue South on 588 Ave. until you reach a forced right turn. Take that right turn. Continue driving another mile and you’ll take a forced left turn. Continue on this road straight for another mile and a half until you see the tiny houses on your left. Note: About 1/4 mile south of your rental is a group of 3 tiny houses (on your left). If you see these, you’ve gone too far (these are not your rentals). The correct rental is a lone tiny house surrounded by grassland/pasture. Let me know if you'd like me to send you a highlighted map via airbnb messenger--I'm happy to do so!

Have a safe trip and we will see you soon!
